ACA Level 1/2 Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop (ICW)

The Art of Paddling's Jeremy Vore (ACA L4 Open Water Coastal Kayak Instructor) will be assisting Uncommon Adventures' Michael Gray (ACA L4 Open Water Coastal Kayak Instructor and L3 Instructor Trainer) with a Level 1 and 2 Kayak Instructor Certification Workshop at Mystic Lake in Michigan's Lower Peninsula.

This program is designed for those with some kayaking experience that are teaching kayaking at camp waterfronts or for park programs. It is a 3 day intensive program that combines an instructor development workshop with a certification exam to make it possible to become a certified instructor in a long weekend. It’s a very efficient use of your time since you can upgrade your certification later as your skills grow.

These early levels of the instructional ladder help you learn to teach strokes and rescues as well a variety of other skills related to kayaking and water safety. At this level you do not need to know how to do a complete eskimo roll, but you will be proficient at a number of group and self rescues at the end. Think immersion education.
